Irosoft and CRIM Join Forces to Create a Quebec Centre of Excellence for Semantics

Irosoft and CRIM (Computer Research Institute of Montréal) join their expertise in textual analysis, Semantic Web, vocal analysis, and cloud computing.

Montréal, Québec, December 5th 2011– Irosoft Inc., a leader in document and records management solutions as well as in legislative information management solutions, and CRIM (Computer Research Institute of Montréal), an IT applied research centre dedicated to the development and transfer of cutting-edge technology and know-how, announced today that they have signed a long-term partnership agreement to join their respective expertise in textual and vocal analysis, Semantic Web, and cloud computing.

The agreement includes the development and production of a software platform accessible by as many people as possible that will host and sell textual and vocal analysis tools as well as semantic processing tools.

“The last few years have shown that there is a growing need for all kinds of semantic analysis tools," indicates Mr. Jean-François Martin, director of R&D and Client strategy at Irosoft. "Governments set up open data projects; entrepreneurs want to efficiently know what consumers think of their company; organizations of all sizes want to properly structure their product description before publishing it on the Web. Those are but a few examples of strategic projects in which semantic analysis play an important role,” adds Mr. Martin.

“We’re happy that CRIM will help us create this Quebec centre of excellence for semantics,” says Mr. Alain Lavoie, president of Irosoft. "It’s a great opportunity for Quebec companies to better showcase their talent.” “This platform will enable Quebec’s technological companies to make their respective accomplishments and know-how in semantic analysis accessible, while enabling Quebec and foreign organizations to take advantage of the benefits offered by these new technologies,” adds Mr. Daniel Blanche, CEO of CRIM.
