CCENA – The Canadian Consortium CCENA announces the signing of a 150-million-dollar agreement during the 2017 Afrique Expansion Forum for the construction of a Digital City in Yaoundé, in Cameroon.

MONTREAL, October 2, 2017 – The Consortium Canadien pour l’Économie 02Numérique en Afrique (Canadian Consortium for a Digital Economy in Africa; CCENA), made up of Tangolf, Geram Communications, Irosoft, P&E INTELLIGENTS, and Groupe 3737, is proud to announce the Digital City project in Yaoundé. The official announcement was made during the 2017 Afrique Expansion Forum, which took place from October 2 to 3, 2017, at the Sheraton Hotel, in front of representatives from Cameroon and Quebec.

The CCENA regroups the expertise necessary to create organizing and mobilizing projects that help develop a digital economy in Africa. The purpose of the consortium is to create business corridors between Quebec and several African destinations by putting forward the Quebec and Canadian know-how.

“This project will create more than 1,500 jobs in Cameroon and more than 50 in Quebec. It will establish a business corridor that will enable our SMEs to export their products and services for several years to come,” explained Alain Lavoie, president and cofounder of Irosoft as well as cofounder of the CCENA consortium.

The digital city project, a first in Cameroon, in Yaoundé, will establish an international-grade “digital ecosystem” that will enable Cameroon businesses and entrepreneurs to conquer the digital economy.

“This city will be one of the main digital accesses to Africa and will include an incubator, a data centre, a fab lab, a digital training centre, a conference centre, offices and coworking spaces as well as several partners and businesses that make up a dynamic ecosystem,” noted Frantz Saintellemy, founder of Groupe 3737 and cofounder of the CCENA consortium.
